It seems we are to have a rubbish bank holiday - a politically bankrupt 'Army Day' to watch chairman Brown and the parade of tanks, regiments and ballyhoo. This pseudo nationhood day is appalling - we want to keep our soggy Britishness, undefined, all things to all men, but basically a lukewarm cup of tea, sympathy and a revulsion from the dogmatist.
